Then choose Health and Social care. In this course you will cover a variety of modules, such as:

  • Meeting individual care and support needs
  • Psychological Perspectives
  • Supporting individuals with additional needs

This vocational course can lead you straight into industry, for example:

  • Health care assistant
  • Community support worker
  • Apprentice Teaching Assistant

Or a degree, such as:

  • Degree Apprenticeship in Nursing
  • Primary Teaching with QTS
  • Sociology and Special Educational needs

“Understanding the many factors that influence an individual’s development and how this relates to their care needs is vital in establishing any career path in health and social care. Health and Social Care is a mix of internally assessed assignments and external examinations. Both allow students to choose their topic areas. It is taught through a mix of group work, discussions, independent research, examination techniques and practice, relevant training videos and pod casts, visiting speakers”

“I enjoyed the health and social course as it always occupied me with enjoyable content that interested me. My teachers really helped me throughout by ensuring that I understood the work and that I was prepared for any exams or upcoming deadlines. Furthermore, I attended various Supercurriculum activities whilst at Rainhill Sixth but my favourite had to be the one I did on the brain in which somebody was explaining how our brain reacts to different stimuli. The session was brilliant and really added to the nature vs nurture discussions that I was learning about in my lessons.”
