“The course is all about studying crime and criminal behaviour. We will look at reasons why people commit crime, what happens once found guilty of committing crime and how society perceives criminal behaviour. As part of the course you will get to visit a working prison where you will get a first-hand experience of what life is like for those incarcerated. It’s a great opportunity to study something you would never have looked at before.”

“I chose Rainhill Sixth because of the idea of a small and safe environment to learn in. In Criminology, I find that the teachers take a real interest in your learning and are always there to help when you need it. The small class sizes make it an enjoyable and pleasant environment to learn in. During this year we have attended a criminology Super-curriculum where we went to a criminology conference in Manchester and heard from people about what working in the police and prisons is like. This was really interesting and was a chance for us to find out more information about possible career paths in criminology.”
