- How language is shaped to create meanings and representations

“Language is power. It’s also biased, liberating, archaic, reformed, discriminatory and progressive. In short, it’s a complex and fascinating aspect of life that reflects the world we live in now and the days gone by. That’s why I love teaching English Language at A-Level. This is a course that asks you to reflect on the way you use language and what that means. Is the English Language sexist? Can a language die and if so, can it be resurrected? What does the accent you use say about you to other people? Do the people around you have more power over your language than you do? This course encourages you to explore language in a new and exciting way that opens your eyes to the society you live in and the world outside of it. I highly recommend this A-Level to prospective linguists and thinkers: we’d love to have you join us!”
