Germany is an economic powerhouse, notably in the automotive, manufacturing and electronic sectors. German A-level is the opportunity to examine the world from the German perspective, referencing politics, culture, history, sociology, film and literature. German is an officially recognised language in 16 countries, spoken by an estimated 110 million people and is thus the most widely spoken native language in Europe. As German ranks second as the most commonly used scientific language and the German book market is the third largest in the world it will stand you in excellent stead for any career choice, as it will open you up to new markets worth £1.6 billion pounds. “My experience studying German was a really pleasant one. The teachers always made sure we were on board and following throughout the lesson. We also had several cultural sessions where we would eat some German food or listen to some German music to aid with the immersion. The teachers also constantly linked us to websites, YouTube channels and films etc we can view in our spare time to help us improve and they were very supportive and created a comfortable learning environment.”
