Rainhill Sixth Form Student Shines at Labour Conference 🌟

We are incredibly proud to share the achievements of our Sixth Form student, Alicia, who recently represented the Sea Cadets at the Labour Conference in Liverpool. Alicia took the stage to speak on important issues affecting young people and made an outstanding impression on MPs, Ministers, and representatives from various charities and NGOs.

We received a wonderful letter from Jane Winfield, the Young People Support Manager for the Sea Cadets, praising Alicia’s remarkable contributions over the three days of the conference. Here’s what Jane had to say about Alicia’s stellar performance:

“I wanted to write to you all to let you know what an absolute superstar Alicia was over the three days of the Labour Party Conference.”

“She was so articulate, creative, professional, knowledgeable, and calm in her approach. The feedback we received from MPs, Ministers, Policy Makers, and Representatives from other charities and NGOs was overwhelmingly positive—they were all hugely impressed.”

“During our workshop, Alicia’s speech about education was powerful and challenging. She truly came into her own when asked questions from the floor, confidently taking the microphone and answering both from the heart while always considering the perspectives of all young people.”

“When we attended other workshops and panels led by Ministers, Armed Forces representatives, and Government Select Committees, Alicia put herself forward to ask questions. She challenged the subjects covered and skillfully brought the discussion back to the viewpoints of the young people she was representing.”

“Our own Sea Cadet’s Head of Policy and Insight, a former political advisor, commented that Alicia’s first draft of her speech was better than what he often received from elected MPs. He also praised her assured and calm technique in answering questions, stating it was far more credible than that of many politicians he has encountered.”

“We were beyond impressed. I was so proud of Alicia throughout the event. She is a credit to you all, and she should be incredibly proud of herself. I hope she realises just how special her gifts of public speaking, persuasion, and leadership are. I also hope this experience has sparked a passion in her to use her brilliant advocacy skills more in the future. Certainly, from our part as an organisation, she will be at the top of our list should we need to speak to any political figures in the future.”

“In addition to her impressive professionalism, Alicia was an absolute joy to spend time with and made for excellent company throughout the event. Well done, Alicia! You smashed it, and thank you for everything you did and achieved!”

Alicia’s powerful speech and confident handling of the Q&A sessions left a lasting impact on all who were present. She truly showcased her talents in public speaking, advocacy, and leadership. The Sea Cadets even noted that a recording of her speech is available, which we highly encourage everyone to watch to see Alicia’s brilliance in action.

Congratulations, Alicia! You have made your school community proud, and we look forward to seeing where your talents and passion take you next.
