Entry Requirements:
5 GCSEs, grade 4 or above, including Maths. Grade 6 in English Literature or Language
Last three years destinations:- BA (Hons) Public Relations at Sheffield Hallam
- BA (Hons) English Literature at Bath Spa
- BA (Hons) English Language and English Literature at Newcastle University
The course is a clear progression from GCSE and allows you to build upon and develop established skills. The selection of texts chosen for study cover all three genres: poetry, prose and drama from a wide range of literary and historical eras right up to the modern day and have been selected to create enthusiasm and a passion for reading literature. The course aims to develop a wide range of academic skills from the ability to read critically, analyse and evaluate whilst fostering independent research skills; all of which are highly desirable skills for further education and employment.

Progression
The prestigious nature of this A Level means that it opens a vast list of university courses and employment opportunities. Degree courses associated with all stages of Education from Early Years to Secondary, Law, Journalism and many areas of the media are highly appropriate progression routes. The depth of writing skills developed on the course also makes this an ideal foundation for careers within business and industry.
Exam
The weighting of assessment is 20% NEA project and 80% examinations.
The project will be set and marked by your teacher and then externally moderated.
There are two examinations which are both completed at the end of year 13. They carry an equal weighting of 40% each of your overall grade. Both are set and marked by the exam board and they have a duration of 3 hours and 2 hours 30 minutes respectively.
